Project Monitoring

Barnabas Aid has developed a varied approach to ensuring full accountability from recipient projects, across different cultures. Projects are selected with great care and in consultation with independent experts.

Most projects are recommended to us by mission agencies or established national Christian organisations and churches.

One or more of the following methods are used as appropriate:

We ask the project director to appoint an independent professional auditor to send us the full set of accounts.

We ask a respected local Christian leader to monitor the project.

We ask a national Christian organisation or a Western mission society working in the area to monitor the project.

We ask the project director to send reports regularly.

We ask for a local Council of Reference to be set up.

We establish and maintain personal contact with the project team through visits, letters/faxes/emails and telephone calls. Members of our team are assigned to monitor specific projects.

We may restrict the amount of the initial donation and only release further funds after we see that this has been spent appropriately.
