Bangladesh is one of the world’s poorest nations, suffering from rapid population growth (130 million people) and periodic natural disasters such as devastating floods and cyclones. Over 50% of the people live below the poverty line. There are around half a million Christians in this country, many among the poorest groups.
One of the major needs is access to clean drinking water. Nights can be very cold in winter and many deaths occur, so there is often the need for provision of quilts and other items for poor families]. Many in this land have not had the opportunity to hear the Gospel. There is a need for the provision of Scripture portions in land where a Bible only costs £2 and a New Testament 70 pence to produce.
