“Syria has been a living nightmare for children and families tormented by years of war and unimaginable hardship. The nature of the ongoing crisis is critical - and help is desperately needed.” This was the message Barnabas Fund received earlier this winter, from one of our project partners.
“For the past eight years, children in Syria have been bombed and starved. They have seen their friends and families die before their eyes or buried under the rubble of their homes. They have been forced to watch their schools and hospitals destroyed, go to bed hungry, survive without medicine and vital aid, and separate from their loved ones as they flee the heavy fighting. Every year the war continues, Syrian children must endure previously unimaginable levels of violence and gross violations of international law by all sides.”
Extra severe winter weather in the region this week is bringing further misery to displaced and needy Syrian Christians. As international media report 15 displaced Syrian babies dying in recent weeks because of the cold weather and inadequate medical care, please remember thousands of Christians still displaced and suffering, especially the children.
Barnabas Fund is providing heaters, blankets, children’s clothes and shoes, as well as extra food for the coldest months. Food parcels contain rice, bulgar wheat, pasta, chickpeas, lentils, cooking oil, canned meat, tea, tomato paste etc. This winter relief is aimed at the most vulnerable displaced Christians and their needy host community families, with a special emphasis on helping children.
