A church minister was abducted while conducting a worship service in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria.
Gunmen attacked the service in the early hours of 19 November, causing the congregants and the minister, Victor Ishiwu, to flee.
The assailants followed Reverend Ishiwu to his home near the church building, threatening to burn down the church’s property if he refused to come out.
When the minister refused to comply the gunmen broke into the house in order to abduct him.
Abductions of church ministers and other Christians are common in Nigeria, where believers are suffering ongoing violence at the hands of Islamist extremists.
In September a pastor in Plateau State was abducted by gunmen who also shot his wife in the leg.
Pray for the release of Victor Ishiwu, and that the Lord will keep him safe from harm while he is held captive. Ask that some way will be found of curbing the activities of Islamists and bandits who continually threaten the Nigerian Church.
