“How quickly can we collect and ship the goods?” asked Barnabas Fund’s coordinator in Moldova.
This was the question at the top of our appeal last week and the answer is: “Very quickly!”
Food, blankets and warm clothes already delivered and distributed
We are humbled and deeply grateful to our supporters that, by the grace of God, we have already filled a 30-tonne lorry over this last weekend. It arrived near the Romanian border with Ukraine on Wednesday (16 March), and the food, clothes and blankets it contained are being distributed in Ukraine and in Romania for those who have fled there from Ukraine.
More goods are arriving daily in our central warehouse in Swindon and will be sent on.
We have had dozens of volunteers helping out – collecting goods locally, sorting and packing in the warehouse, and driving. Thank you. But more needs to be done.
“This is not a sprint, but a marathon,” a pastor in Ukraine said to Barnabas Fund.
Food
Currently the greatest need is for food. Would you consider collecting food for Christian refugees from Ukraine and those still inside Ukraine?
We are therefore calling for donated goods for Ukraine, specifically:
- tinned food (that can be opened without a can opener), especially sardines and canned meat;
- cup-a-soup packets;
- energy bars; and,
We will gladly continue to receive and send on blankets and good quality winter clothes, particularly coats, but the most urgent requirement this week is for food.
YOU remain a critical cog in our response
Without your generosity and involvement, we would not have been able to offer the support to our brothers and sisters as we have done. However, we still need your help.
- Will you and your church collect goods for Ukraine? We already have over 35 partner churches throughout the UK who are acting as collection hubs (please click here to see a list). We can then arrange for the goods to be delivered to our Swindon warehouse. Alternatively, you can volunteer to drive the goods to Swindon.
- Can you volunteer to help out in the warehouse? Perhaps you can volunteer to drive.
Please contact us on 01793 317778 or complete this form .
- Funds are still needed as we continue sending financial assistance, particularly for heating the church halls and other buildings now housing refugees. Our partners in the region have told us of their soaring fuel bills. If you would like to make a financial donation, please donate by clicking on the Donate button below.
Please keep giving and please keep praying for Ukraine and the whole region.
