“The situation is dire,” said a Barnabas Aid project partner in Myanmar after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that devasted the country.
“Thousands are without access to basic necessities such as food, clean water and shelter.”
The death toll has already reached nearly 4,000 and could rise even higher. Thousands more are injured and displaced.
You can help.

Even before the earthquake, many Christians had been forced from their homes by relentless military attacks
Christian communities in Myanmar are among those suffering the aftermath of this disaster.
“Earthquake-affected Christians are living on the roads and under trees as their homes have been destroyed,” said another partner.
“They have lost their food, clothing, and daily essentials.”
The disaster has affected everyone, but Christians were already suffering from violent persecution. Thousands had already been killed, injured, displaced and cut off from sources of food by relentless military attacks.

Worse, the Myanmar military continued its attacks against civilians even as the people were struggling to deal with the ongoing crisis.
“The bombardments and airstrikes mercilessly go on even after this devastating earthquake,” reported one Barnabas Aid contact in the region.
In the past, Myanmar Christians have been excluded from humanitarian aid. Hatred and persecution make their suffering even worse.
We need you to pray and to give. Barnabas is preparing to support trusted Christian ministries and aid organisations giving practical help to our brothers and sisters.
“Thank you for your faithful support,” adds one of these project partners. “Thank you for helping our brothers and sisters in Myanmar survive. Thank you for standing by our fellow believers in this hour of need.”
Owing to the difficulties of transferring funds into Myanmar, Barnabas Aid project partners have asked those who would like to donate to do so only through trusted charities, ministries and aid agencies to ensure donated funds will reach the intended beneficiaries.
How you can pray
Lord God and Heavenly Father, please bless these efforts to reach the survivors of the Myanmar earthquake with urgently needed aid. While the military authorities care nothing for the Christian communities of Myanmar, thank You for those whose mission it is to help Your people. We pray that the desperate needs of believers, and all people in Myanmar and its neighbouring countries, will be met, because we ask in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ..
