Suspected Fulani Islamists killed three Christian men in Nigeria’s Plateau State on Sunday 23 March.
The attack took place in the Dudun community, Bassa Local Government Area (LGA).
The National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, confirmed that those killed were John Avia, 48; Sunday Vickson, 32; and Peter Vickson, 30.

Yonkpa identified Fulani militias as responsible for the killing. He condemned the attack as one of a series of attacks on the Irigwe community, which resulted in the wholesale destruction of crops.
“In addition to the numerous ambushes of our people in the last fortnight and the massive destruction of dry-season farm crops, yesterday, Fulani militias ambushed our people at Dundu village, killing three,” the community leader said.
The Christian-majority Irigwe people have been targeted by suspected Fulani Islamists several times in recent years, including a 2022 attack on a cultural festival in which 12 people were killed.
Ask the Lord to comfort the Irigwe community in their loss. Pray that the security forces will be guided in bringing the perpetrators to justice. Pray for His protection of His people from such attacks throughout Nigeria.
