Thank you for your caring and generous response to our appeal on behalf of Christians from Ukraine. But this urgent need has not subsided.
Nearly three million people have fled Ukraine since February 24 – around twice the entire population of Philadelphia.
Most – including many thousands of our brothers and sisters – are seeking what refuge they can in neighboring countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova.
In Ukraine itself there is the desperate need to reach the suffering population of cities under siege with food and supplies.
Food, Diapers and Warmth
Food remains one of the greatest needs, both for those in Ukraine and refugees in neighboring countries. Our project partners also report that parents are running short of diapers for babies and toddlers.
In the biting winter, warmth is essential. Churches and other buildings, now home to refugees, need to be heated – our partners in the region have told us of their soaring fuel costs.
Vital Food Supplies Being Sent from the US and Canada
Next week Barnabas Aid will send our first shipment of food to Romania. Thanks to a Canada-based gleaning organization (a group that, like in the Old Testament, collects the gleanings of crops left at the side of the fields for the poor) we will send 44,000 lbs (20,000 kg) of dehydrated potatoes to refugees from Ukraine in Romania.
God willing this will be the first of many – another gleaning organization in Michigan has also offered to send supplies.
We also thank God for answered prayers, as the first truck from Barnabas United Kingdom’s food.gives warehouse arrived near the Romanian border with Ukraine on Wednesday (March 16), and the food, clothes and blankets it contained are being distributed in Ukraine and in Romania for those who have fled there from Ukraine.
We appreciate and value your prayers, without which this would not have been possible. Please continue to intercede for our suffering Christian family in the days and weeks ahead.
Please Give Now
Your donation today can provide much-needed food, diapers and funds for heating costs. We also need donations to cover the shipping costs for sending the dried potatoes and other foodstuffs to Europe. Please give as the Lord leads you.
