Ramiel Bet Tamraz Released Early From Iran’s Evin Prison

Christian prisoner, Ramiel Bet Tamraz, was released early from a four-month sentence in Iran’s notorious Evin prison on 26 February.

The 35-year-old was charged with organising and conducting house churches and accused of "acting against national security” by the Iranian government. His sentence began on 7 January.

Meanwhile, Ramiel’s parents have been waiting for two years for an appeal hearing against their prison sentences. Since 3 September 2019 , Pastor Victor Bet Tamraz and his wife have already attended three hearings, only for each one to be postponed. The most recent appeal hearing was due to take place on 24 February .

Pastor Victor and Shamiram ​were initially arrested in 26 December 2014 . In July 2017, the pastor was sentenced to ten years in prison for "acting against national security" by organising and conducting house churches. His wife Shamiram was given a five-year sentence.
