Barnabas Aid has sent emergency aid to Christians in rural areas of Laos and northern Vietnam who were affected by Typhoon Yagi earlier this month.

Hundreds of Christians in the region lost rice crops that were almost ready for harvest, as well as their homes and possessions.

The aid included two tonnes of rice, as well as funding for tools and machinery to clear mud slides and debris.

Christians struggle to clear the wreckage left by Typhoon Yagi

Christians are a minority across South-East Asia and are often among the most impoverished.

Typhoon Yagi struck several South-East Asian countries in the first week of September, leading to at least 761 fatalities and leaving more than 2,000 people injured.

Give thanks that Barnabas was able to respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters within days of the disaster. Pray for all people in the region affected by the typhoon and ask that their long-term needs will be met.
