Islamic State media have reported the killing of four Christians in separate incidents in northern Mozambique.

All four killings took place in the Muidumbe District of Cabo Delgado in the first two weeks of November.

Fighters from Islamic State Mozambique (IS-M) captured two “infidel Christians” on Sunday 3 November and slit their throats.

On 7 November the Islamists killed another Christian in a machine gun attack. The fourth was captured and killed two days later.

IS-M has killed thousands of people in northern Mozambique since the beginning of an insurgency in 2017. The terrorist group works closely with Islamic State Central Africa Province (based in north-eastern D.R. Congo), with the activities of both co-ordinated by an Islamic State command centre in Somalia.

“They pursue their political goals according to a script dictated by the Islamic State,” said Professor Fernando Cardoso, a geopolitical expert.

“According to IS, Cabo Delgado is supposed to be integrated into a caliphate to be established along the entire Swahili coast.”

Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved and the fearful. Pray that He will bring an end to the Islamist insurgency in northern Mozambique, for the sake of His children and all people there who want to live in peace.
